This professional development programme is for teachers, educators and managers working in both home-based and centre-based services. It is designed to ensure that early childhood services have the necessary knowledge, information and resources available to them when responding to concerns about child abuse and especially suspected emotional abuse and/or childhood sexual abuse. The programme deals with developing a strong child protection culture and recognising early indicators of Neglect, Physical Abuse, Sexual Abuse and Emotional Abuse. It addresses issues of safe professional practice and care and protection within your Service. There are practical ideas for including child protection within your planned programme, working with parents and children to minimize the risk of abuse.
